How Much Do You Know About Corn Oil Extraction

Corn oil is also named as corn germ oil, for the oil comes from the corn germ (the oil contained in the germ consists 80% of the oil and fat in the corn). It is one of the most expensive oils in the vegetable oil market, and the health care function of corn oil is acknowledged by the specialists. It is known to all that peanut kernels shell and redskin has to be removed for peanut oil production, but how the corn oil extraction process is like is not very well known by the public. A extra process-corn germ separation is needed, below is the main method used for this separation process:

Corn Oil Extraction

Dry separation: no moisture adjustment, separate the skin, germ and endosperm by milling, compressing or other mechanic ways, this method is featured with simple operation, low power consumption, no pollution, but the separation efficiency is not high and the germ contains part of the endosperm.

Wet separation: the corn has to go through the process of soaking, crushing, germ separation, then separate the germ from the starch, the efficiency of this method could reach to 85%-95%, the germ contains high water content, after the drying process, the oil content could reach to 44%-50%, but this method requires advanced equipment, more power consumption and pollution.
